While I continually mourn the closing of Christian Lacroix’s couture house back in 2009, the ballet he has costumed lends a glimmer of beauty and joy for the moment. And, I really can’t think of a designer more suited to costume this particular production.

Lacroix designed costumes for the ballet “La Source”, (at the Opéra National de Paris at the Palais Garnier through Nov. 12) with a small team, various expert workshops, and 1 million Swarovski crystals, donated by the company.

It’s wonderful to see Lacroix doing work so much in his element- the theatricality, the craftsmanship, the storytelling and above all the Eastern and North African aesthetic which he frequently referenced in his couture gowns as well. If i were in Paris in the next two weeks, this would be on my to-do list! -RS (Images via NYTimes)

DAMIEN HIRST’S & RANKIN’S “MONSTERS, MYTHS, AND LEGENDS” EXHIBITION

In this unique art book and epic collaboration, long-term friends, photographer RANKIN and artist Damien Hirst, leverage their creative mediums and shared dark wit. Inspired by their conversations around myths, monsters and legends, they decided to extend their exploration of the subject by creating something tangible. Working to break boundaries of convention, the resulting photographs are ethereal and menacing, the ancient world viewed through a modern lense.
